$4.50 per Gallon of Gas

California is home to the highest gasoline prices in the United States. No other state comes close. Yes, not even in the islands of Hawaii.

These are typical gas station prices in the Los Angeles Area, about $4.50 a gallon.

Gas prices going up daily

What is upsetting is that prices are still going up.

The reasons? The usual excuses - refinery issues, changing to the summer blend and no one wants to admit it, but CA politicians and CA voters themselves. Remember November 2018 elections, the Prop 6 Gas Sales Tax? Are the people of LA this long suffering or this stupid?

Anyway, what is worse is that California is among the top producing states in the union. The LA Area sits on big oil reserves and has thousands of active oil wells pumping a million barrels of oil a day. LA is home to 10 refineries which have done nothing good to the area and in fact continue to pollute LA and surrounding cities for the last 100 years.

The rant for today? When will the people of LA benefit from these oil reserves which their homes, schools, parks, offices and their neighborhoods are sitting on? Or at least, when will gas and oil prices in LA be at least at the same level as other states which produce no gas at all?
