George Floyd In Memoriam

The videotaped killing of George Floyd was hard to watch -- it is heart breaking and hopefully it is also the last straw that breaks the camel's back.

Media and politicians have been riding this camel for a generation, it's time to put it down.

Respect

First things first though, let us all please show some respect and decency to the grieving loved ones George left behind by quitting to show any more photos and videos of this man's last dying breath.

This should now be videotaped-evidence for the courts of justice.

Instead let us show photos and videos of Mr. Floyd and his friends and family in their happier times. Let us do some work towards this and respect his memory.

The Last Straw

People have known about, have witnessed or actually have been on the receiving end of these kinds of attrocities by people in authority as they have shown absolute and arrogant abuse of their powers, time and time again.

Finally, this last one should be the last straw. In this time of CCTVs, smartphones and social media, it is time to put a stop to this madness that has been allowed to go this far.

New Day

Real reforms, new policies, constant retraining and heads rolling in the highest levels of law enforcement and public governance should be in order.

Swift and real justice for George Floyd is and should be the order of the day.

Let us trust that the FBI and  the other investigative agencies now involved in this case will do their job.

Second, people should be allowed to vent out their frusrations and anger through peaceful demonstrations.

But violence, vandalism and looting by those who are taking advantage of the situation should not be tolerated and encouraged. Politician's rhetoric riding on the high emotions of this time should also be sanctioned.

We have had enough of the brutality, the abuse and the cover-ups. But also of the grandstanding.

We should not condone how some people are showing disrespect to the serious matter at hand by willfully destroying other people's business and means of livelihood and putting their workers out of work. And politicians and popular personalities using people's emotions to push for their own personal gain. Let us not waste George giving up his life to distract from the real issue at hand. Let us not let him die in vain.

We are in a war right now. I know. But even in war there are specific rules of engagement.

George Floyd: "Our young generation is clearly lost, man. I don't even know what to say no more, man. Like, you youngsters just going around just busting guns in crowds, kids getting killed. Hey, man, come on home, man. One day, it's going to be you and God. You going up or you going down."
